Scottish Premiership Roundup: Relegation playoff battle to go down to wire

Partick Thistle and Kilmarnock secure wins in their respective Scottish Premiership matches tonight to take the relegation battle down to the wire.

Partick Thistle and Kilmarnock secured wins in their respective Scottish Premiership matches tonight to take the relegation battle down to the wire.

The Jags beat Hearts 4-2 at Tynecastle, despite the home side having taken the lead twice in the game, first through Callum Paterson, then through Danny Wilson.

Goals from Lyle Taylor, Gary Fraser, Lee Mair and Kallum Higginbotham condemned the relegated Jambos to yet another defeat.

However, Killie wouldn't be the ones to slip up, securing a 1-0 win against St Mirren courtesy of Kris Boyd's first-half strike, despite having James Fowler dismissed in the 87th minute.

At the other end of the table, Motherwell kept up the pressure on Aberdeen for second place by securing a 2-1 win against Inverness Caledonian Thistle, an early John Sutton penalty and an own goal by Gary Warren sealing the victory.

Elsewhere, champions Celtic were pegged back by two late goals from St Johnstone in their 3-3 draw at McDiarmid Park.

Results in full: Hearts 2-4 Partick Thistle, Kilmarnock 1-0 St Mirren, Motherwell 2-1 Inverness Caledonian Thistle, St Johnstone 3-3 Celtic
