Middlesbrough defender Seb Hines has signed a new three-year contract with the club.
The 24-year-old academy product had recently been linked with a move to Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers.
"From our point of view, it's a reward for Seb's consistent performances last year," manager Tony Mowbray told the club's official website. "In recent years, he has a lot of injuries, but he has shown the quality he possesses.
"When he got a run of games last year he played his part in a defensive unit that functioned well. We're looking for him to continue in a similar vein and to compete with the centre-halves we have at the club.
"We also want him to help the team remain defensively strong. We're looking forward to working with Seb over the next three years."
Hines ended last season having featured in every one of Boro's last 21 games.
