Manchester United reportedly plan to trigger Diogo Dalot's one-year contract option to keep him on the books until the summer of 2024.

Manchester United are preparing to trigger the one-year extension option in Diogo Dalot's contract, according to a report.

The 22-year-old has started to become a regular under Ralf Rangnick ahead of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, playing the full 90 minutes in each of the Red Devils' last six Premier League matches.

Dalot has still been linked with an exit ahead of the expiry of his contract in 2023, but he is always thought to have been determined to fight for his place at Old Trafford.

Now, The Sun reports that Man United will exercise their right to extend his contract by 12 months in order to avoid losing him on a free next year amid interest from Borussia Dortmund.

The report adds that a new long-term deal is also not out of the question, and Dalot can expect a bumper pay rise should he choose to commit his future to Rangnick's side.

The former AC Milan loanee boasts a total of one goal and three assists in 55 appearances for Man United since his £19.8m arrival from Porto in the summer of 2018.
