Sir Alex Ferguson has said that his Manchester United side will thrive being near the top of the table as they head into the New Year.
United claimed a 2-0 win over QPR to stay within two points of title rivals Manchester City.
The win extended the Red Devils' unbeaten run to eight games and Ferguson insisted his side have got what it takes to defend their title.
"The important thing is to be there (near the top) on New Year's Day," said the Scotsman.
"If you're involved right at the top part then you know the second half of the season, we'll relish that."
United's next test is a trip to Fulham on Wednesday night.
