How Manchester United could line up against Watford

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester United could line up in Saturday's FA Cup clash with Watford.

Manchester United will be looking to book their spot in the fourth round of the FA Cup when they welcome Watford to Old Trafford on Saturday night.

The Red Devils will enter the match off the back of a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in the semi-finals of the EFL Cup on Wednesday but have been in excellent form in the Premier League.

United lifted the last of their 12 FA Cups in 2016, while head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won the competition on two occasions as a player at Old Trafford.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the home side could line up this weekend.

United will again be without the services of Phil Jones on Saturday due to a knee problem, while Marcos Rojo is also a major doubt as the out-of-favour defender battles a calf issue.

Solskjaer will also be unable to call upon Edinson Cavani, with the Uruguay international due to serve the final game of his three-match suspension against the Hornets.

There will be wholesale changes from the Man City game, with Axel Tuanzebe, Eric Bailly, Alex Telles, Nemanja Matic, Donny van de Beek, Daniel James, Juan Mata and Mason Greenwood all in line for starts, while Dean Henderson is again expected to get the nod between the sticks.

Anthony Martial could find himself on the bench against Burnley next week with Cavani available after this game, meaning that the Frenchman might be given another start here.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Brandon Williams and Jesse Lingard are also among those who could come into contention, but the trio are down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Harry Maguire is again expected to feature at the heart of the defence, meanwhile, with Solskjaer previously explaining that he is reluctant to rest his captain, who feels sharper when he plays every match.
