Manchester United have been held to a 2-2 draw at home by Benfica in their Group C Champions League clash.

The hosts got off to a bad start as Phil Jones put through his own net after four minutes, deflecting in an attempt from Nicolas Gaitan. However, Dimitar Berbatov, playing in place of injured Wayne Rooney, headed in an equaliser on the half hour mark as United dominated possession.

Darren Fletcher guided the ball in after a cross from Patrice Evra on the hour, threatening to give the Red Devils the three points necessary to keep them at the top of Group C.

However, the lead was squandered two minutes later as Pablo Aimar capitalised on confusion in United's defence to equalise and frustrate the hosts.
