Quartet absent for Manchester United's Champions League trip

Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick and Antonio Valencia will all sit out Manchester United's Champions League tie against CFR Clug.

Four senior players have been left out of Manchester United's Champions League encounter against CFR Cluj tomorrow evening.

Veteran midfielders Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes will remain in Manchester following their appearances during United's 3-2 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.

Another midfielder, Michael Carrick, will also stay behind as a result of an unspecified injury.

Also absent from the squad is Ecuadorian winger Antonio Valencia, who has not featured since injuring his ankle during the 2-1 victory over rivals Liverpool earlier this month.

United won their opening group game against Turkish club Galatasaray 1-0.
