Manchester City are reportedly ready to offer a new contract to youngster Oscar Bobb, who has impressed on his introduction to the first team.

Manchester City are reportedly keen to agree a new long-term contract with Oscar Bobb.

In 2019, City moved to sign the then-teenager from Valerenga, with the hope of developing him into a first-team star under Pep Guardiola.

While his opening years at the Etihad Stadium were spent in the academy ranks, Bobb - now 20 years of age - is now well on his way to cementing himself as a permanent member of the senior squad.

Bobb has been provided with a total of five starts and nine substitute outings in all competitions during 2023-24, and he made his first Premier League start against Brentford earlier this week.

In January, Bobb also scored what proved to be the Premier League Goal Of The Month in a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory at Newcastle United.

As it stands, the Norway international is not viewed as a regular starter under Guardiola, nor is that likely to change during the remainder of this campaign.

Nevertheless, according to the Daily Mail, City are eager to hand him a new long-term deal.

The report suggests that Bobb is on the brink of penning fresh terms at the Etihad Stadium, extending his current contract which lasts until 2026.

Bobb will also be in line for a substantial wage increase, with the plan seemingly being for the four-cap international to spend the coming years challenging for a regular place.

He currently finds himself competing with Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish, Phil Foden and Jeremy Doku for a place in the final third.

Bobb is expected to drop back down to the substitutes' bench when City square off against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

However, Guardiola could opt to recall the wideman to the starting lineup for the FA Cup fifth round tie with Luton Town, which takes place at Kenilworth Road three days later.
