Manchester City will reportedly open talks with Fabian Delph over a new contract in the coming weeks.

Manchester City reportedly intend to open talks with Fabian Delph over a new contract in the coming weeks.

The 29-year-old has 18 months remaining on the five-year contract he signed when joining City from Aston Villa in 2015 and could be sold this summer if he fails to agree fresh terms.

According to The Sun, Delph's "attitude and willingness to be a squad player" have impressed manager Pep Guardiola, who is keen to offer him a new deal.

The newspaper claims that City are reluctant to lose a player who qualifies as homegrown and will begin talks over a new deal worth around £80,000 a week in wages.

"Delph is a popular member of the squad. He gets on with everyone and the boss absolutely loves him," a source said. "His attitude is top notch. The club want to give him an extension but if he wants to go out and play more football they'll let him go.

"There's been enquiries over him already on loan, but he won't be allowed to leave this window and it will be looked at in the summer if not."

During his time with City, Delph has notched up 57 top-flight appearances and won one Premier League title.
