How Manchester City could line up against Watford

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester City could line up for Tuesday's trip to Watford in the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola is expected to ring the changes for Manchester City's Premier League trip to Watford on Tuesday, three days on from their FA Cup exit at the hands of Arsenal.

City lost 2-0 to the Gunners at Wembley through a couple of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang strikes to effectively end their domestic campaign.

The Citizens, who won the EFL Cup in March, can finish no higher or lower than second in the Premier League with two games to go.

Focus is now very much on their Champions League last-16 second leg with Real Madrid, which they lead 2-1, but first they must tick off games with Watford and Norwich City.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Guardiola may set out his side for the midweek clash at Vicarage Road.

Guardiola has made 137 changes to his starting XI in the Premier League this season - only Manchester United in 2013-14 (144) and 2008-09 (140) have made more in a single campaign.

Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne returned to the side as two of five changes for the Cup defeat to Arsenal, with both men expected to be given a breather on Tuesday.

The whole back four may be changed, in fact, with Joao Cancelo now back in contention on the right and Oleksandr Zinchenko pushing for inclusion on the left.

With little to play for in this final away game of the season, Guardiola may use this as an opportunity to hand academy product Tommy Doyle a first league start following his impressive cameo from the bench against Newcastle United.

Given Aguero's prolonged absence and a lack of other striking options, Gabriel Jesus may once again lead the line unless Guardiola goes without a recognised striker.
