Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has revealed that he was disappointed with how he was portrayed during his 'birthday cake' saga.
Toure's agent Dimitri Seluk previously stated that his client was 'disrespected' and claimed that the Ivory Coast international was unsure of his future at Manchester City.
Toure supported his agent's claims that he felt disrespected, but now claims that Seluk was actually 'making a joke' about the whole issue.
"Over the summer there was a lot of speculation about birthday cakes and rubbish like that. It was disappointing for me," the 31-year-old told BBC Sport.
"My agent made a little joke about it and people took it seriously.
"I was quite surprised about the way people and the media reacted to that."
Toure says that he is now targeting the Champions League and 'wants to win it for the fans', having already won the FA Cup, League Cup and Premier League twice during his time at City.
