Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany could miss up to two weeks of action following a calf injury picked up during his side's Europa League defeat to Sporting Lisbon.
The defender was taken off just minutes into the 1-0 first-leg loss in Portugal.
"We have to wait one or two days to know the exact extent of his injury, but it is a problem with his calf," said manager Roberto Mancini. "I hope to have Kompany back in 10 days or two weeks, but we have other solutions."
City travel to Swansea City in the Premier League on Sunday.
