Gabriel Jesus: 'Sergio Aguero and I do a great job together'

Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus aims to get sharper in front of goal, but believes that he and Sergio Aguero share the same spirit when they play together.

Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus has expressed his delight to be back playing alongside Sergio Aguero in the starting XI.

The South American pair were on the scoresheet as City thrashed Huddersfield Town 6-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, with Aguero bagging a hat-trick and Jesus netting the second.

The attackers created a deadly partnership at the start of the last campaign, combining for 20 goals in the six games they started together in the opening months of the season.

However, with a long-term injury to left-back Benjamin Mendy, manager Pep Guardiola tweaked the formation to a 4-3-3, meaning that he regularly started just one of Aguero and Jesus.

"Our team has six players capable of playing in the attack, all of them really good. Pep opted for Sergio and myself, just like he has done last season and I think there was only one match where we didn't so well - but usually when we both play together we do a great job," Jesus told the club's official website.

"We can indeed play together! Sergio and I have the spirit of scoring goals and always try to finish well. I've started this season with the aim to get better with my finishes, to keep helping the team."

Jesus directly contributed to 22 goals in 42 appearances last season, scoring 17 times despite periods on the sidelines due to injury.
