Striker Craig Bellamy has revealed that he "messed up" when Roberto Mancini took over as manager of Manchester City.
Bellamy was a regular starter under previous boss Mark Hughes, but after he was replaced by Mancini, the Welsh international has admitted that he didn't adapt well to the introduction of a new coach.
The 33-year-old told the Daily Mail: "I could have been more open but when Sparky (Mark Hughes) went, I shut down. I just wanted stuff to stay the same for me but I got a change of manager and routine. I just clammed up, didn't want to know. Typical.
"Mancini didn't have to persevere with me because he could just go and get someone else and that's what happened.
"But I regret that. I could have made that work. That's one I messed up."
The former Newcastle United and Liverpool player now plays for Championship club Cardiff City.
