Martin Demichelis confident of Manchester City victory

Martin Demichelis says that Manchester City are confident of beating Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 clash at Camp Nou.

Manchester City defender Martin Demichelis has claimed that his side can pull off a comeback in Spain to beat Barcelona in their Champions League last 16-tie.

A double from Luis Suarez saw the Citizens fall to a 2-1 defeat in last month's first leg, but Demichelis believes that recent results around the continent have shown that they can cause an upset at Camp Nou.

"Schalke managed a shock result at the Bernabeu last week and Paris Saint-Germain got through against Chelsea with a man less," Demichelis told Al Primer Toque. "We know it will be very difficult and Barca have the advantage, but we are still angry at the way we played in the first half in Manchester, so we hope to create plenty of chances.

"We have to be honest and recognise we are going through a poor spell but we also need to try and achieve maximum success when things are mathematically impossible. We'll be going to Barcelona with the intention of turning this tie around. At this stage last year we weren't top of the table but still managed to win the title.

"This season City are a stronger team despite us dropping points recently, but we have to keep going as in football you never know what could be around the corner."

City come into the match having suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Burnley at the weekend.
