Preview: Livingston vs. Ross County - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Scottish Premiership clash between Livingston and Ross County, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Two teams who could really do with a victory go head-to-head at the Tony Macaroni Arena on Saturday as Livingston play host to Ross County.

The home side are without a triumph in their last eight matches across all competitions, while their visitors boast just two wins in that time.

Livingston were left red-faced in a disappointing 4-2 defeat against Hearts in the sides' meeting at the Tynecastle Park on April 13.

David Martindale's men raced to an early two-goal lead thanks to a Stephen Kelly double before strikes from Jorge Grant, Yutaro Oda, Cameron Devlin and Lawrence Shankland turned the game on its head.

While the Lions remain rooted to the bottom of the Scottish Premiership table, they have now fallen a whopping 13 points adrift of safety.

Awaiting them next is the challenge of an opposing outfit who are unbeaten in the most four editions of this fixture - all of which have come in the last 12 months.

Having picked up just one win from their last six home outings, Saturday's hosts will need to pick the pace up in front of their fans to stand any chance of survival.

Ross County snapped a two-game losing streak with an impressive 3-2 victory over Rangers at the Global Energy Stadium two Sundays ago.

After going behind to Jack Baldwin's own goal, Don Cowie's men rallied in the second half and score unreplied goals thanks to Simon Murray, George Harmon and Joshua Sims before James Tavernier pulled one back to set up a frenetic finale.

With 30 points picked up from 33 matches this term, the Staggies sit bottom but one in the league standings, a point shy of possible top-flight survival.

Off the back of six consecutive defeats on the road, Saturday's visitors have it all to do this weekend as they look to avoid another empty trip on the road.

Team News

Tete Yengi received his marching orders in Livingston's defeat to Hearts last time out and is ineligible to play a part in this weekend's match.

James Penrice and Andrew Shinnie are also unavailable due to hip and groin injuries respectively, while Cristian Montano misses out with a muscle problem.

Ross County's Scott Allardice and Ross Callachan continue to nurse knee injuries, with both players still yet to make an appearance this year.

Twenty-eight-year-old William Nightingale is set to sit out an 11th game on the bounce for the away side due to a niggling muscle injury.

Livingston possible starting lineup:
George; Kelly, Obileye, Devlin, Nottingham; Brandon, Kelly, Holt; Mackay, Pittman, Anderson

Ross County possible starting lineup:
Laidlaw; Randall, Baldwin, Leak, Harmon; Efete, Dhanda, King, Loturi, Sims; Murray

SM words green background

We say: Livingston 0-1 Ross County

Livingston have struggled on both ends of the pitch all-season long, and it is hard to see them coming away with a positive result here. We fancy Ross County to emerge triumphant at the sound of the final whistle.
