Barcelona 'closing in on deal for Brazilian teenager'

Barcelona near an agreement with Sao Paulo to sign teenager Gustavo Maia, according to a report.

Barcelona are reportedly on the verge of completing a move for Sao Paulo teenager Gustavo Maia.

The 19-year-old is yet to make his first-team debut for his Brazilian club but is already believed to be on the radar of a number of European clubs ahead of this summer's transfer window.

According to UOL, Barca are the clear favourites for the forward and could secure his signature before the upcoming market opens for business.

The report claims that the Spanish champions are prepared to pay an initial €1m (£870,000) for Maia, with a further €3.5m (£3m) in order to secure 70% of his economic rights.

Liverpool and Atletico Madrid have also previously been credited with an interest in the attacker, whose current deal with Sao Paulo is due to expire in June 2022.

Barca, meanwhile, are reportedly also closing in on a deal for Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic.
