Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly due to meet with Liverpool's owners this afternoon regarding the vacant managerial position at Anfield.
The 39-year-old has swiftly become the leading contender to become the successor of Kenny Dalglish, who was sacked from the Merseyside outfit a fortnight ago following a poor Premier League campaign.
While the Welsh club claimed yesterday that Liverpool had not approached Rodgers for talks, it is understood that the former Chelsea coach will meet with Fenway Sports Group this afternoon, according to Sky Sports News.
Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez was the frontrunner for the position last week but reports have suggested that the Spaniard turned down the job due to the Reds' plans to overhaul the managerial structure in the club.
