Roberto Martinez will reportedly meet with Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan today in order to discuss his future with the club.

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez is expected to meet Latics chairman Dave Whelan today in order to discuss his future with the club.

The Spaniard has been linked with a switch to Liverpool in recent weeks following the sacking of Kenny Dalglish from Anfield.

The 38-year-old is believed to have carried out numerous talks with the Reds' American owners, which prompted Whelan to set the former Swansea City coach a deadline of Thursday this week to make a final decision on his future.

Martinez, who jetted back into the North West from a holiday in Barbados yesterday, is due to meet with Whelan to talk about the managerial vacancy at Liverpool, according to Sky Sports News.

While Martinez was the original frontrunner for the Reds job, Swans boss Brendan Rodgers has emerged as the bookies' favourite to nab the position.
