Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has criticised Aston Villa fans who jeered Stewart Downing during the Reds' 2-0 win at Villa Park.
The winger moved to Anfield over the summer after two years with the Midlands club.
"I think it's sad. They'd have been better off giving their support to their own players, because it wasn't going to upset Stewart," Dalglish told reporters.
"He was excellent, so obviously it worked."
The Merseyside club, who are sixth in the Premier League table, travel to Wigan Athletic on Wednesday night.
