Ipswich caretaker manager Chris Hutchings says his players need to "look at themselves in the mirror" after another humbling loss to Sheffield Wednesday.

Ipswich Town caretaker manager Chris Hutchings has told his players that they need to "look at themselves in the mirror" after another loss for the Championship's bottom club.

The Tractor Boys were thumped 3-0 by fellow strugglers Sheffield Wednesday and now sit five points adrift of safety.

"One or two of the older players haven't performed anywhere near to what they can. I'm pleased for Luke Hyam and Josh Carson (both of the Ipswich academy) though," Hutchings told reporters.

"I've said to them, they need to look at themselves in the mirror. I don't pass it out of play, I don't pass it to opposition.

"They should be professional, they should have that desire and drive to perform. It's their job, they get well-paid for it."

Defeat today means that Ipswich have won just one game in 18 and are without a win in 11. They also went 10 home games without a triumph for the first time in their history.

The Blues are searching for a new manager following Paul Jewell's exit last week. Mick McCarthy and Alan Curbishley are currently the bookies' favourites for the post.
