League One side Carlisle dump Championship club Ipswich out of the League Cup, beating them 2-1 after extra time this evening.

Ipswich Town have been eliminated from the League Cup having lost 2-1 after extra time to League One side Carlisle United this evening.

Ipswich enjoyed the first chances of the game as Jay Emmanuel-Thomas saw his shot deflect wide. Lee Martin then sent Josh Carson through, but goalkeeper Adam Collin was equal to his effort.

The Championship club took the lead after 24 minutes as Massimo Luongo fired in from outside the penalty area. Danny Cadamarteri looked to fire back for the hosts, but his header went just over the bar.

Carlisle's equaliser came in injury time of the second half courtesy of Mark Beck's headed effort, sending the game into extra time.

Aaron Cresswell was then caught in possession by David Symington, who proceeded to lash the ball past Scott Loach to give Carlisle the unlikely victory.
