Ross Barkley finds the net in the opening couple of minutes to give Sheffield Wednesday the lead at rockbottom Ipswich Town.

Sheffield Wednesday have taken a one-goal lead into the dressing room at Ipswich Town in the clash between the Championship's two bottom clubs.

Rockbottom Ipswich were behind inside the opening couple of minutes when Everton youngster Ross Barkley, on loan at Wednesday, tucked home a loose ball.

Michail Antonio twice came close to doubling Wednesday's lead in the opening quarter of an hour. First, the winger shot just wide before Danny Higginbotham cleared a looping header off the line.

Wednesday's dominant opening subsided but the Tractor Boys did little to warm the palms of Chris Kirkland.

The hosts earned a trio of free kicks within shooting range but they were wasted by the left feet of Higginbotham and Aaron Cresswell.

Another chance came Wednesday's way when Chris O'Grady was presented with a free header but he was unable to get it on target.

Ipswich had their first shot on target just before the whistle but Josh Carson's effort was easily held by Kirkland.
