John Hughes: 'Ryan Christie will play for Scotland'

Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager John Hughes says that Ryan Christie will play for Scotland later in his career.

John Hughes has said that Inverness Caledonian Thistle midfielder Ryan Christie will play for Scotland after he scored against St Johnstone yesterday.

The 20-year-old's ninth minute goal was cancelled out in stoppage time by Saints striker Graham Cummins.

"Ryan Christie will play for Scotland," Hughes told BBC Sport. "He's quite happy at Inverness and he's still learning his trade. This is a great grounding for Ryan Christie.

"I felt we were good enough to score another couple of goals. We need to be more ruthless, but that's football. No complaints about their effort and commitment.

"We can build on that now, that's a platform. Some of them have to get up to speed in terms of fitness."

Caley Thistle will continue their Scottish Premiership campaign against Partick Thistle on Wednesday.
