Wednesday's Championship predictions including Millwall vs. Ipswich Town

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Championship fixtures, including Millwall vs. Ipswich Town.

Huddersfield vs. Sunderland (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Sunderland will travel to Yorkshire to meet Huddersfield Town on Wednesday in a game of major importance at both ends of the Championship table.

A victory at the weekend saw the visitors move seventh and only outside of the playoff places on goal difference, while their hosts' lead over the relegation zone was reduced back to just two points in a defeat away at Southampton.

We say: Huddersfield Town 1-2 Sunderland

Huddersfield Town certainly showed their fighting spirit despite ultimately falling short away at one of the league's form teams last weekend, on the back of a major victory against Sheffield Wednesday, and they will certainly make it tough for the Black Cats on Wednesday.

The visitors boast more quality throughout their squad, however, and with momentum back on their side, we fancy Beale's men to prevail in a difficult test.

Plymouth vs. Coventry (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Coventry City make the trip to face Plymouth Argyle at Home Park on Wednesday evening looking for the win that will keep them in the Championship playoff places.

At a time when the visitors occupy sixth position in the standings, Plymouth are down in 15th place after seeing their recent undefeated league run came to an end at the weekend.

We say: Plymouth Argyle 2-2 Coventry City

With Plymouth having lost at the weekend, it remains to be seen how Foster's side will react against a team of similar quality to Sunderland. However, we are backing the Pilgrims to earn a share of the spoils in an entertaining game.

Preston vs. Middlesbrough (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Preston North End play host to Middlesbrough on Wednesday evening looking for the victory that could catapult them back into Championship playoff contention.

At a time when the home side sit in 10th position in the standings, Middlesbrough have recently dropped down to 12th, four points adrift of their next opponents.

We say: Preston North End 1-1 Middlesbrough

With momentum in their favour, Preston are justifiably favourites to come through this contest on home territory. However, Boro are in a position where they need a response, and we are backing Carrick's side to deliver, even if it is only in the form of a draw.

Stoke vs. QPR (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

In a fixture packed full of importance at the bottom of the division, Stoke City will welcome Queens Park Rangers to the bet365 Stadium on Wednesday night in the Championship.

The Potters' woeful run of form continued at managerless Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, whereas the R's managed to grab a point from their contest with Norwich City on the same day.

We say: Stoke City 1-2 Queens Park Rangers

Stoke defender Wilmot said that the Potters' dressing room is not a nice place to be amid their recent struggles - an admission that does not bode well ahead of a relegation six-pointer on Wednesday.

QPR have been boosted by a number of additions in the January window, and we believe that the R's will escape the bottom three with a win in Staffordshire.

Millwall vs. Ipswich (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

Aiming to stay in the race for a top-two spot in the division, stuttering Ipswich Town will travel to The Den on Wednesday night in the Championship to face off against Millwall.

The Lions were defeated narrowly at playoff hopefuls Coventry City on Sunday afternoon, while the Tractor Boys shared the spoils with West Bromwich Albion at Portman Road a day earlier.

We say: Millwall 1-2 Ipswich Town

Millwall are failing to convert decent performances into results, and the Lions' tough run of fixtures continues with the visit of Ipswich on Wednesday night.

The Tractor Boys are beginning to stumble in the race for automatic promotion to the Premier League, but we believe that McKenna's men will record a much-needed maximum at The Den.
