Philipp Lahm has praised Germany's team effort during their 1-0 win over Portugal.
The 28-year-old, who won his 87th cap for his country, said that it was important to get their campaign off to a winning start.
"We controlled the match in the first-half," said Lahm. "Portugal had only one chance from Pepe. During the second-half we had problems, especially at the end, but that happens.
"It is all about the team. We know that and we showed that today. It is very important to start the tournament with a victory - it always is!"
Germany travel to Kharkiv on Wednesday to play the Netherlands.
