Jack Wilshere fit and ready to play in World Cup

Jack Wilshere declares that he will be fit for England's World Cup campaign, despite not starting a match since March.

Jack Wilshere has insisted that he is fit to play for England in the World Cup next month, despite not starting a game since March due to a broken foot.

The 22-year-old spent the closing stages of the Premier League season on the sidelines, but that did not stop Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson from including the midfielder in his 23-man squad.

Following a week-long warm-weather training stint in Portugal, England are preparing to face Peru at Wembley in a warm-up match on Friday.

"I've been training for a long time," Wilshere told Sky Sports News. "I'm yet to play a game, but I've been training for a long time now - six weeks.

"I maybe need a few games, but I'm feeling good. Hopefully I can get some games under my belt before the big kickoff."

England will begin their campaign in Manaus against Italy on June 14.
