Tony Pulis won't go easy on Cardiff City

Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis admits that he grew up watching Cardiff City, but will not do them any favours on Saturday.

Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis has insisted that he will not give Cardiff City an easy time on Saturday, despite having been brought up watching the Bluebirds play.

Pulis said that he would like to see the Welsh side remain in the Premier League this season, but not at the expense of his side Palace, who are currently 16th.

"I watched Cardiff when I was a young boy and I also watched Newport County when I could," he said in his pre-match press conference. "If I didn't have games on a Saturday, if I wasn't playing for the YMCA then we would jump on a train and if we could we would get to Cardiff.

"That was when John Toshack was playing, Ian Gibson was in midfield, and they had a very, very good team. My dad took me to watch Cardiff on a Tuesday or a Wednesday evening when they played Real Madrid when there were 50,000 people in the stadium.

"It is a fantastic club and a great city. I hope, along with us, that they stay in the Premier League but there will be nothing given from us on Saturday."

Palace have won seven of their 16 home games so far in the Premier League.
