Liverpool have contacted Premier League rivals Chelsea regarding the potential signing of 21-year-old Levi Colwill this summer, according to a report.
The Reds are gearing up for a new era under Arne Slot, with several players being linked to potential signings ahead of the 2024-25 season kickoff.
Club captain Virgil van Dijk's current contract at Anfield is set to expire at the end of next season, by which point he would have already turned 33 years of age.
With no confirmation of a contract extension for Van Dijk as yet, there has been speculation that the Dutchman could move on next season, with reports in recent weeks suggesting that clubs in Saudi Arabia are keeping tabs on the situation.

Liverpool approach Chelsea about Colwill availability
Liverpool are believed to have prioritised bringing in a new defender as well as a striker in the transfer window, and according to HITC, the Reds have approached Chelsea regarding the availability of Colwill as they aim to strengthen their squad this summer.
The report adds that Liverpool have been admirers of the defender for a long time, dating back to his time with Brighton & Hove Albion.
However, it is understood that while Chelsea are looking to offload several homegrown players in the offseason in an attempt to raise funds to balance their books, Colwill is not included in the group of potential departures.
Among the players who have been linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge this summer are Conor Gallagher, Trevoh Chalobah and Armando Broja.
Colwill, however, is believed to be uncertain about his future in West London despite harbouring dreams of playing in a Chelsea shirt for the foreseeable future.
Recent reports suggest that the 21-year-old defender will hold discussions with new manager Enzo Maresca regarding his immediate prospects, especially after former boss Mauricio Pochettino sidelined him in the latter stages of last season.

Liverpool prioritise new centre-back signing this summer
Colwill made 23 appearances in the Premier League during the 2023-24 campaign, averaging 2.1 tackles and 1.9 aerial duel wins per 90 minutes.
While Chelsea may be reluctant to sell him to maintain financial stability and comply with Premier League PSR rules, they could be forced to reconsider if the player expresses a desire to leave.
The Reds have also been linked with moves for Eintracht Frankfurt's Willian Pacho, Goncalo Inacio of Sporting Lisbon and Lille teenager Leny Yoro.
Liverpool parted ways with Joel Matip at the end of last season, while there have been rumours that Joe Gomez could depart Anfield this summer in search of more regular playing time.
