Chelsea reportedly make a decision over the future of Levi Colwill amid interest from Bayern Munich.

Chelsea have reportedly reached a decision over how to handle any interest in Levi Colwill.

The defender endured a frustrating end to the 2023-24 campaign having failed to make an appearance since March 2 due to injury.

However, before that issue with his toe, the academy graduate had made 27 starts and five substitute outings in all competitions during his first campaign as a Blues first-team player.

Such was Colwill's progression that he earned a debut with England, albeit still missing out on Euro 2024 courtesy of his recent lack of game time.

Nevertheless, the 21-year-old has at least maintained his reputation as one of the most highly-regarded young defenders in Europe, a tag that was initially held through his displays on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion.

As a result, any interest in the versatile defender - who can play in the centre or on the left - should not come as a surprise, and it has been alleged that Bayern Munich are admirers.

With Vincent Kompany as their new head coach, it has been reported that the Bundesliga side are interested in signing Colwill during the summer transfer window.

Given Chelsea's seemingly-uncertain position with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules, cashing in on a homegrown talent such as Colwill cannot be ruled out.

According to the Evening Standard, co-owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital currently have no intention of parting ways with Colwill.

Furthermore, it is claimed that the player also remains settled at Stamford Bridge and does not hold a particular interest in seeking a move elsewhere.

Could Chelsea's stance change?

Much may depend on how successful Chelsea are in generating funds through the sales of other academy graduates and unwanted players across the coming months.

Boehly and Clearlake already feel that the West Londoners will fulfil all financial criteria with the Premier League and UEFA, yet speculation persists that they still want to sell certain players.

Trevoh Chalobah, Conor Gallagher and Armando Broja - all homegrown talent - reportedly feature on that shortlist, and it would come as a surprise if at least two of those players did not move elsewhere.

Colwill possesses a contract until 2029, which strengthens his case to stay put, although Chalobah and Broja also have deals that last until 2028.
