Samuel Eto'o's agent has insisted that it would be "difficult" for his client to leave Anzhi Makhachkala.
Following the news that Russian club were keen to cut their budget, the Cameroon centre-forward had been linked with a £5m switch to Premier League outfit Chelsea.
However, the player's representative, Peppino Tirri, believes that the 32-year-old will remain with his current employers.
"Eto'o is an Anzhi player and the club has provided him with all the guarantees in the case of the level of his contract, so it is difficult to see him leave," said Tirri.
"It makes no sense for him to return to Italy. His wages are too high. I know nothing about Chelsea. I've not heard from anyone."
Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho recently revealed that he tried to sign Eto'o in 2006.
