John Terry has admitted that he would like to become the manager of Chelsea one day.

The current Blues captain has spent his entire career with the club, making almost 500 senior appearances.

Terry, who has gone on to become a hero among the club's fans since joining at the age of 14, hopes that his association with Stamford Bridge will continue when his playing days conclude.

"Obviously my overall aim is to become manager," the 30-year-old central defender told Sky Sports.

"And looking at the Andre Villas-Boas appointment, as well as Roberto Di Matteo being brought in as coach, it's great for current players as well.

"They are giving chances to people who have been around the club and who know the club inside out as well.

"So that tells the players inside the club - myself, Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and Petr Cech - who have all been here a long time, that if we do our coaching badges then there will be roles here in the future.

"Whether that's with the first-team or reserves, the club are encouraging which is good."

Terry's current contract takes him to 33, the same age as new Chelsea manager Villas-Boas.
