Chelsea defender David Luiz ruled out of Swansea City clash

Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte says that defender David Luiz will miss Wednesday's Premier League clash with Swansea City due to a knee problem.

Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte has revealed that defender David Luiz will not feature in his squad for Wednesday's clash with Swansea City.

After an alleged disagreement with Conte, Luiz has made just one first-team start throughout November and it appears that the centre-back faces a further spell on the sidelines.

At Tuesday's pre-match press conference, Conte told reporters that the Brazilian was suffering with a knee problem, an issue which the 30-year-old has dealt with for much of his second spell at Stamford Bridge.

Conte added that he was unaware of the length of time that Luiz would spend on the sidelines, with the injury coming at a time when the Blues face a hectic schedule in three competitions.

Chelsea are scheduled to play 10 games before the end of 2017, with their next fixture against Newcastle United coming less than 72 hours after the meeting with Swansea.
