Five games into the new campaign and Bragantino have yet to lose a game, with their only blemishes coming in high-scoring draws against Bahia and Fluminense.
They have defeated Chapecoense, Corinthians and Flamengo either side of those draws and are third in the table, one point off leaders Athletico Paranaense, who have a game in hand.
Braga made it back-to-back victories with a dramatic comeback win against Flamengo on Sunday, a game in which they trailed 2-1 with around 20 minutes to go.
Eric Ramires headed home an equaliser at the Maracana and substitute Chrigor found a winner in the eighth minute of added time to down the reigning champions.
That was Chrigor's first top-flight goal and lifted Bragantino top, but they have since dropped a couple of places following Paranaense's win and a draw for Fortaleza.

Palmeiras also had to recover from a goal behind last time out as they saw off America Mineiro 2-1 on Sunday.
Geovane had given the visitors the lead, only for Willian to score twice - the second of those goals in the 96th minute - to turn the game on its head.
America forward Ademir missed a penalty shortly before half time in that one, so Palmeiras can consider themselves slightly fortunate to have come away with all three points.
It is a victory that moved them up to fourth in the standings, one point behind Bragantino and two points off the summit in a congested top half.

Chrigor is surely in contention for a starting spot following his goal from the bench against Flamengo, but it is more likely that Ytalo will get the nod through the middle.
Bragantino will definitely be without Jan Hurtado once again as he is away on Copa America duty with Venezuela.
Luan Candido and Bruno Tubarao have been nursing injuries, meanwhile, and Alerrandro is isolating after recently testing positive for coronavirus.
As for Palmeiras, Gustavo Gomez, Weverton and Matias Vina are their known injury doubts.
Luiz Adriano dropped out of the side for the meeting with America Mineiro, but he is in contention to start here after coming on and assisting Willian's late winner.
Mayke is also pushing for a recall after coming on for full-back Victor Luis at the weekend.
Bragantino possible starting lineup:
Cleiton; Aderlan, Bruno, Ortiz, Weverson; Evangelista, Raul; Artur, Ramires, Helinho; Ytalo
Palmeiras possible starting lineup:
Jailson; Rocha, Renan, Luan, Luis; Scarpa, Veiga, Melo; Menino, Adriano, Willian
We say: Bragantino 2-2 Palmeiras
Both teams are riding high on the back of late comeback victories last time out, which keeps them each in touching distance of the Brasileiro summit.
Bragantino's two draws this season have been high scoring, and we can see another entertaining contest being played out on Wednesday.
