Bournemouth, Burnley share the spoils

Bournemouth share a 1-1 draw with Burnley in their Championship match at Dean Court.

Bournemouth have shared a 1-1 draw with Burnley in their Championship match at Dean Court.

Michael Kightly had an early sight of goal for the visitors, but after bursting into the box, he saw his low drive saved by Lee Camp.

Moments later Steve Cook saw his strike from long range comfortably held by Tom Heaton.

The hosts came close again as Tokelo Rantie teed up Simon Francis to shoot from distance, but Heaton saved the attempt.

After the break Bournemouth took the lead when Rantie met Ian Harte's cross at the near post to head the ball past Heaton.

Sam Vokes missed a good chance to immediately draw his side level when after being found by Dean Marney inside the box, he scuffed a strike wide of the post.

In the 67th minute Burnley eqaulised through Keith Treacy, who slotted in Ross Wallace's deflected shot at the back post.

Burnley then had their keeper to thank for keeping the score level. Heaton pushed behind an effort from Lewis Grabban, before saving Tommy Elphick's header from the resulting corner.

With five minutes left to play, Francis came close to grabbing a winner when he fired a shot against the crossbar.
