David Dunn has claimed that teammate Christopher Samba is still welcome at Blackburn Rovers despite expressing a desire to leave the club.
Defender Samba was heavily linked with a move away from Ewood Park last month, but all bids were abruptly rejected by Rovers.
However, Dunn believes that Samba is still a key member of the squad during the fight against relegation.
The 32-year-old said: "As a club without question we are better as a team when Chris Samba is playing.
"The club feels he can still play a big part. I understand as a player you get an opportunity to move on in your career and maybe fulfil your ambition."
Dunn missed a penalty during Rovers' 2-0 loss against Newcastle United on Wednesday.
