Unbeaten Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich enter half time trailing 2-0 to second-placed Wolfsburg courtesy of a Bas Dost double.
The German champions currently hold an 11-point advantage at the top of the table and could see tonight as a chance to effectively kill off the title race.
However, it was the hosts who struck early at the Volkswagen Arena as Kevin de Bruyne burst through the middle to square for Dost to finish tidily beyond Manuel Neuer on four minutes.
De Bruyne was at the centre of further Wolfsburg chances, with a fizzed cross just evading Maximilian Arnold and a swerving shot on the half-hour mark missing only narrowly.
The Belgian was not involved in Wolfsburg's stoppage-time second, which was all about Dost as the striker rifled an unstoppable 20-yard volley into the top corner after a set piece had been cleared to him.
Bayern had previously had more than their fair share of efforts on goal in an end-to-end opening 45 minutes, with David Alaba and Bastian Schweinsteiger working Diego Benaglio from long range.
Schweinsteiger had a more clear-cut chance on 14 minutes when he headed wide from Xabi Alonso's corner, and Dost struck again to leave Munich's unbeaten league record this term hanging by a thread.
