Good afternoon, it's around half an hour until kickoff at Somerset Park, where Ayr United will be trying to prevent Rangers from maintaining their unbeaten start to the 2013-14 season. Both sides have named the starting lineups, so let's take a look at the teams.

AYR STARTING XI: Hutton, Hunter, Pope, Campbell, Lithgow, McLaughlin, Roberts, Crawford, Moffat, Kyle, Donald

RANGERS SUBSTITUTES: Simonsen, Templeton, Crawford, Faure, Clark, Aird, Smith

AYR SUBSTITUTES: Muir, Shankland, Malcolm, Forrest, McGowan, Longridge, Marenghi

No surprisingly, McCoist is sticking with the same stating lineup that beat Stenhousemuir 8-0 last weekend. In-form striker Jon Daly scored four goals last weekend, and is likely be a big threat again this afternoon.

Ayr have a couple of former Rangers players in their squad this afternoon. Defender Kevin Kyle spent time at the club while Adam Hunter played for the Under-19s.

While Daly may be the in-form striker for Rangers, Lee McCulloch has led the scoring this season, netting seven times in as many games. Andrew Little, who also starts today, has also had a strong start to the season in front of goal with four goals this season.

Ahead of today's match, Daly told the team's website: "I've said before that I put my goals down to good service and hopefully I can get that again if I'm selected and I can score some more. Strikers are judged on goals so you want to score as many as you can and once you start getting them you do become a bit more confident in front of goal. The first one is 10 goals and once you get there you look for 15 then try to push on after that so I'll keep looking to take things as they come."

PREDICTION! With just a few minutes until kickoff, there's just time to make a prediction. For me, this is really a case of how many goals will Rangers win by. Given last week's devastating display against Stenhousemuir, anything less than a five-goal winning margin will probably be a disappointment for the visitors. I can see Rangers comfortably taking a 6-0 win this afternoon, but I hope I'm wrong, it would be good to see Rangers really tested.

The players are just heading out ready for this afternoon's kickoff.

Ayr get the game underway.

It's a bright start for the visitors. Rangers win the ball in midfield and are quickly on the attack. Wallace tries to cross the ball in but Ayr keeper David Hutton comes to claim it.

Ayr try to go on the counter, but Peralta makes a superb tackle to claim the ball back for the visitors, but player-manager Mark Roberts keeps the pressure on for the home side. It doesn't like the hosts are going to let Rangers dictate the play.

OFF THE POST! Ayr come within inches of taking the lead, as Michael Moffat slices the ball in for Michael Donald, who smashes the ball past Cammy Bell, only to see his effort strike the post before dropping into the Rangers keeper's arms.

Rangers are looking to put a stop to the home side's strong spell, with Law trying to put the ball through for Macleod, but Donald is on hand to make the block. The visitors haven't really tested the Ayr goal yet.

Rangers are on the attack as they continue to look for their first real chance of the game. Macleod sends in a high ball to Peralta, who is waiting out wide on the edge of the penalty area, but the winger just drifts offside. Peralta then immediately gives away a free kick in a dangerous position at the other end.

Kyle delivers the ball into the box, and finds the head of Martyn Campbell, but he nods the ball well wide. This really has been an impressive start by the hosts.

Wallace makes a brilliant run down the left-hand side before sending in a clever cross for Little, who manages to secure a throw in. Wallace launches it into the box, but Law head it well high.

Rangers just seem to be starting to find their rhythm after a slightly shaky start. McCulloch and Wallace are leading the charge in midfield for the visitors, while Daly and Little both look keen to get involved inside the penalty area, testing the Ayr defenders.

CHANCE! Little makes a strong run down the right wing before taking the ball to the edge of the box. He has McCulloch waiting in front of goal with plenty of space, but manages to cross straight to Hunter, who easily manages to clear the danger.

CHANCE! Bell makes a superb save to deny Scott McLaughlin from a free kick. The home side secure the first corner of the match as a result, but Rangers calmly clear the danger.

Ayr are looking dangerous, forcing Bell into action again as a well-timed cross nearly finds the head of Kyle just a couple of yards from the goalline. They continue to bear down on the Rangers penalty area until McLaughlin tries to drive the ball in from the edge of the box, but scuffs his shot, pulling it well wide.

CHANCE! Hutton suddenly finds himself very busy in the Ayr goal, as he has to save a Nicky Law effort from range, before Ian Black tries to slice it in from a tricky angle. The Ayr stopper keeps his calm though, eventually throwing his body on top of the ball to prevent Rangers from taking the lead.

Peralta crosses the ball in towards Daly, but Pope manages to clear. From the throw in, Richard Foster attempts an ambitious strike from the edge of the box that goes well high, but he was fouled as he took the shot, giving the visitors a free kick from a good spot.

CHANCE! Wallace takes the free kick from the edge of the penalty area, and he strikes it well, keeping it low and powerful, but Hutton watches it all the way, and makes the save.

CHANCE! Rangers are started to dominate now, as they win another free kick, this time around 25 yards out. Mohsni gets his head to the ball just a couple of yards out, which Hutton manages to punch over the bar. However, the assistant raises his flag for offside, so it wouldn't have counted anyway.

BOOKING! As Ayr try to end Rangers' strong spell by applying pressure down the other end, Mohsni fouls McLaughlin on the edge of the box. For a series of fouls, the referee shows the Rangers man the first yellow card of the match.

CHANCE! McLaughlin takes the free kick from just outside the box, but Bell manages to make the save.

BOOKING! Ayr's player-manager Mark Roberts is booked for a challenge on Peralta. He claims that the Rangers man dived, but the referee disagrees.

There's a bit of a concern for Rangers as Jon Daly has picked up a wound to the back of his head following a clash of heads with Alan Lithgow. The striker has managed to make his way to the sideline to get some treatment.

Ayr look like they're keen to grab a goal before half time, as Moffatt beats a brace of Rangers defenders on the edge of the area before trying to cross the Kyle, but Foster is able to get the ball away for the visitors.

Foster sends a long ball into the Ayr box for Daly, who is back on after receiving treatment for a head injury, but Hutton punches the ball away. The ball back into the box takes a deflection, almost gifting an easy finish to Peralta, but Hunter defends well to prevent the strike.

CHANCE! Black fires the ball into the box from midfield, and Rangers manage to force a corner just before half time. Daly finds himself through on goal, but he can't quite get control of the ball, and it ends up going behind for a goal kick. Had he been able to get a boot to the ball, that would surely have been the opening goal for Rangers.

It's honours even at the break following a goalless first 45 minutes at Somerset Park. The home side had a shot his the post inside the opening five minutes, while Jon Daly failed to capitalise on a golden opportunity just before the break.

Ayr United have been very impressive so far. Having one just once in their last six games, it would have been easy for the hosts to sit back, but they started in an attacking frame of mind, and have looked solid at the back when tested by their opponents.

Rangers had the majority of the possession during the first half, but both sides had two shots on target. Former Rangers player Kevin Kyle looked dangerous up front for the home side, while Jon Daly and Lee Wallace led the attack for the visitors.

The players are starting to head back out ready for the second half.

Ayr continue their attacking play from the first half, but McCulloch manages to wrestle the ball from McLaughlin to tap it back to Bell.

Nicky Law is down injured after taking a boot to the stomach while trying to win a high ball.

BOOKING! Kevin Kyle gets a yellow card for catching Arnold Peralta while battling for the ball out wide.

CHANCE! Pope brings down Daly on the edge of the area to give Rangers a chance from a free kick. The visitors take it quickly, and Peralta tries to head it in, but he misses the target.

Kyle and McCulloch clash in midfield, as the Ayr man tries to win a high ball in the air, but tangles with the Rangers player. The referee awards McCulloch the free kick, but Kyle claims that he was the one fouled. McCulloch has to go off for treatment, as he appears to have jarred his back during the collision.

The visitors win a free kick after MacLeod is brought down in midfield. The long ball drops to Mohsni on the edge of the box, and he hits it sweetly on the half-volley, leaving Hutton no chance in the Ayr goal.

In the run up to the goal, it had started to get quite physical between the two sides, with some wild challenges flying in from both teams.

Rangers are quickly on the attack again and win a corner. Wallace curls it into the box. Mohsni mis-times his jump looking for the header, but Lewis MacLeod is on hand to fire the ball in with a stunning overhead bicycle kick. Rangers are well in control now.

Ayr's fight from earlier in the match seems to have deserted them, as they allow Rangers to play the ball out from Bell to Peralta on the edge of the box with little resistance, before Moffatt wins it back for the hosts.

CHANCE! Peralta wins it back and picks out Daly just inside the box. The striker turns brilliantly before lashing it towards goal, but he fires it straight to Hutton, who makes a comfortable save.

SUB! Player manager Mark Roberts takes himself off, bringing on former Rangers player Anthony Marenghi.

Ayr have managed to gather themselves and go on the attack as they look to get themselves back into the match. Kyle crosses the ball in towards Moffatt, but Rangers have numbers back, and managed to clear the danger.

Black sends a long ball into the box looking for Little, but Hutton manages to snatch the ball before the Ranger man reaches it. The Ayr keeper pushes Little away as he nearly collides with Hutton, which leads to a bit of shouting and shoving between the pair, but their quickly separated. Meanwhile, Black has taken a knock in midfield and is receiving treatment.

Daly picks up the ball out wide, and fires it towards the box for Little. Hutton comes off his line to punch it away, but it doesn't get very far. Little tries to claim it back for a second chance, but Hunter manages to clear for the hosts. It looks like Black has managed to shake his knock and is carrying of for the visitors.

SUB! David Templeton comes on for the visitors, replacing Andy Little.

SUB! The home side make their second change, bringing on Craig Malcolm in place of Kevin Kyle.

BOOKING! Scott McLaughlin is shown a yellow card for a clumsy challenge on Law.

CHANCE! Foster, who has been playing a more attacking role since the visitors took a two-goal lead, makes a run down the wing before crossing to Templeton on the edge of the box. The substitute striker hits it well, but it just rises too much, clearing the crossbar.

CHANCE! Templeton has the ball again and this time looks for Daly, who is just a fraction late into the box, allowing Templeton's cross to be cleared.

SUB! Ayr make their final change, bringing on Alan Forrest for Robbie Crawford.

Ayr are trying to get themselves in a position to set up an equaliser, but McCulloch makes a solid block on the edge of the box to keep the home side out. Moffatt wins it back in midfield, before winning a free kick after being fouled by Black.

Forrest launched the ball deep into the box from the free kick, but Mohsni gets to it first, before Cammy Bell claims it for the hosts.

CHANCE! Forrest shows his pace with a superb break from midfield before passing to Marenghi, whose shot appeared to be going wide, but Bell was able to save it anyway.

SUB! Rangers make their final change, bringing on Robbie Crawford for Arnold Peralta. Just to avoid confusion, both teams have a Robbie Crawford in their squad today!

CHANCE! Rangers look to end any hopes of an Ayr comeback as the ball falls to Daly just a couple of yards from the home side's goal, but he can't turn in time to get a clean shot away.

Lee Wallace wins a late corner from Rangers, which Crawford takes. Mohsni tries to claim it, but some good defensing forces the scorer of this afternoon's first goal to knock it clear.

Templeton makes a speedy run down the left wing before looking to cross the ball into the box, but he slices his pass, sending it behind for a goal kick.

It was far from a dominant performance by Rangers, but two superb strikes from Bilel Mohsni and Lewis MacLeod ensure that Ally McCoist's side leave Somerset Park with all three points this afternoon.

The home side played well for the best part of an hour, but conceding twice in the space of three minutes left Ayr shell-shocked, and they only looked to regain their composure inside the final 10 minutes.
