Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny is reportedly one of five players to feature on Newcastle United's shortlist ahead of the January transfer window.
Despite being placed in the Premier League relegation zone, the Magpies are expected to make a number of high-profile additions next month on the back of their recent takeover.
According to the Daily Mail, Eddie Howe and head of recruitment Steve Nickson have informed the club's owners who they wish to target at the turn of the year.
Elneny, who is out of contract in the summer, allegedly features on that list, the Egypt international regarded as a priority target in the centre of midfield.
Versatile Borussia Monchengladbach player Matthias Ginter is also of interest, as is Lille centre-back Sven Botman and Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly.
The report claims that Howe is also eager to bring in out-of-favour Spurs defender Joe Rodon at the midway point of the campaign.
