Arsenal reportedly identify Bernardo Silva as an alternative to James Maddison following Pep Guardiola's admission that the midfielder wants to leave Manchester City.

Arsenal could reportedly turn their attention to wantaway Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva instead of Leicester City's James Maddison.

The Gunners are reported to have identified Maddison as their number one creative target for the summer window, but Leicester are thought to value their playmaker at £70m.

Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers has also played down the prospect of Maddison joining Mikel Arteta's side, leaving Arsenal to seek out alternative creative options.

With Pep Guardiola confirming that Silva is looking to leave the Etihad this summer, The Mirror claims that Arsenal are exploring the possibility of signing the ex-Monaco man.

The report adds that La Liga giants Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are both admirers of Silva, but the duo's financial issues have seen Arsenal jump to the head of the queue for his signature.

The 26-year-old still has four years left to run on his deal with Man City, where he has scored 35 goals and assisted 44 more in 201 appearances since arriving in 2017.
