Tottenham receive Mauricio Pochettino decision on replacing Ange Postecoglou in North London?

Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to replace Ange Postecoglou with former head coach Mauricio Pochettino in the near future, with the Argentine currently managing USA.

Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly set to stay in his post as USA head coach despite mounting pressure on Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian is facing severe scrutiny at the North London club following a 2-1 defeat to Leicester City in the Premier League last weekend.

It appeared as if the Lilywhites were heading towards a much-needed victory when Richarlison opened the scoring in the first half, however goals from Jamie Vardy and Bilal El Khannous completed a comeback for the Foxes.

Spurs' top-flight situation is staggering, with the capital-based club collecting just a single point from their last seven league fixtures.

As a result, Postecoglou's men are languishing down in 15th position in the Premier League rankings, just eight points above the relegation zone.

Tottenham 'receive' Pochettino update amid Postecoglou pressure

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham have received an update regarding the availability of Pochettino, with pressure continuing to mount on current boss Postecoglou.

The report states that the 52-year-old is highly unlikely to leave his position as head coach of USA in order to secure a move back to North London.

It is believed that Pochettino is fully committed to leading The Stars and Stripes to the 2026 World Cup - a tournament that they will host alongside Canada and Mexico.

On top of this, it is understood that clauses in the contract of the Argentine would make a switch to Premier League Spurs extremely complicated at this moment.

Pochettino has fared reasonably well in charge of the North American outfit so far, winning five of his seven matches in charge since taking the reins in September.

Never say never for Pochettino

Whilst a return to Tottenham for Pochettino is unlikely to be forthcoming in the near future, the manager has failed to rule out such a move one day.

Questioned about a possible reunion at Spurs during his time as Chelsea head coach in November 2023, the 52-year-old said: "Who knows? It's like life, you never know what is going to happen tomorrow.

"We need to enjoy today and not look too much in the future. But, for sure, if I'm not working, [and] maybe if they want me one day, why not?"
