Hugo Lloris backs Tottenham Hotspur to cope in Harry Kane absence

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris says that Tottenham Hotspur can cope in the absence of Harry Kane after the striker suffered an ankle injury against Sunderland.

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has backed Vincent Janssen to replace Harry Kane in the club's starting lineup should it be confirmed that the striker faces a spell on the sidelines.

Kane is due to undergo a scan on the ankle injury he sustained in Spurs' 1-0 victory over Sunderland on Sunday afternoon, but Lloris is confident that the team can cope in the absence of their leading striker, who has made 71 consecutive appearances in the Premier League.

Lloris is quoted by the Evening Standard as saying: "We have a competitive team and are fully confident in every player. When one player is missing, it gives an opportunity to another player to bring his skills, energy and quality.

"This is the story of the season and that's why we need all the players involved to be committed to the club because when the manager needs you, you need to respond well."

Janssen has made just one start for the North London outfit since moving to White Hart Lane earlier in the summer.
