Harry Kane: 'We are stronger than last season'

Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane insists that his club have the squad to compete in both the Premier League and Champions League this season.

Harry Kane has insisted that Tottenham Hotspur have the squad to compete in both the Premier League and Champions League during the season ahead.

The likes of Vincent Janssen, Victor Wanyama and Moussa Sissoko arrived in the summer to boost the ranks at White Hart Lane, while head coach Mauricio Pochettino managed to keep the bulk of his squad from last season intact.

Kane, who is believed to be close to agreeing a new long-term contract at the club, has said that Spurs are "ready" to compete across all of the competitions this season.

"I think we've got a stronger squad than last year. We've added some great additions to the team. We've bought some great players in who have fitted in perfectly," Kane told reporters at a community event at Wembley.

"So now we're ready, we've got a lot of games, being in the Champions League against tough opponents. We definitely feel we're ready to go and we're stronger than last year.

"The performances haven't been amazing. There's still room to improve. But we've got some good results against some tough teams. We hope to kick on now like we did last year, get some wins and go from there."

Spurs will open their Champions League Group E campaign at home to AS Monaco on September 14. Before that, they will travel to Stoke City in the Premier League this weekend.
