Southampton's Sadio Mane: 'Result more important than hat-trick'

Southampton attacker Sadio Mane insists that beating Manchester City on Sunday afternoon was more important than his hat-trick against the Champions League semi-finalists.

Southampton attacker Sadio Mane has insisted that the success of the team is more important than personal glory following his hat-trick in Sunday's 4-2 win over Manchester City in the Premier League.

The Senegal international added to Shane Long's opener to send the Saints 2-0 ahead at St Mary's, before scoring twice in the second period to help his side collect all the points.

Despite hitting a treble, Mane has claimed that "the most important thing was the three points".

"I'm happy to score the goals for the team. We are happy to score more goals today. I think we've played fantastic football," Mane told Sky Sports News.

Mane was strongly linked with a move to Manchester United in the January transfer window.
