Zinedine Zidane: 'Transfer ban is absurd'

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane insists that his club will continue to fight the "absurd" transfer ban imposed by FIFA.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has branded his club's transfer ban "absurd" and revealed that the Spanish outfit will continue to appeal the decision from FIFA.

On Thursday, it was revealed that both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid had lost their appeals against FIFA bans on signing players in the next two transfer windows.

The ban, which was incurred due to a breach of the rules regarding the transfer of non-Spanish players under the age of 18, was initially issued in January, but was lifted this summer once both clubs had lodged their appeals.

As it stands, the two Madrid giants are not free to sign any more new players until January 2018, although Zidane has confirmed that his club will continue to fight the decision.

"I do not understand it and it annoys me. It is absurd - the club want to change it quickly and I hope it is changed! My kids were born here and have spent their whole lives here, so why should they not be able to play football? It's absurd," he told reporters.

Real Madrid only signed one new player in the summer - Alvaro Morata re-joining from Juventus.
