Steve Lomas expects "very physical" derby

Millwall manager Steve Lomas is expecting a physical encounter when his side face local rivals Charlton Athletic tomorrow.

Steve Lomas has said that he expects this weekend's match against Charlton Athletic to be "very physical".

Millwall will travel to their South London rivals tomorrow, having secured their first win of the season last weekend.

"It is going to be a typical derby, very physical. We will need to do all of the basics well, like we did on Tuesday, and man-for-man battles will be key. If we can win enough of them, then that goes a long way to getting a result," Sky Sports News quotes the Lions' manager as saying.

"The lads have set down a marker now, that effort, that commitment is a prerequisite and is the bare minimum expected of them. You can have a bad game, your first touch can be heavy and your passing can be off, but if you scrap and give the bloke your playing against have a tough afternoon, then you cannot really complain.

"Our comeback against Blackpool was especially pleasing because it showed that there is character and togetherness in the team. Even the players who were left out of the squad came into the dressing room afterwards and celebrated with the boys."

Millwall sit 19th in the Championship table.
