Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio is not a target for Liverpool despite the recent speculation, according to a report.

Liverpool are reportedly not interested in signing Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio this summer.

The Spain international's future is currently the subject of much speculation, with Los Blancos believed to be open to letting him leave ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

The 26-year-old was a regular for Real Madrid during the 2021-22 campaign, making 42 appearances in all competitions, contributing 12 goals and two assists in the process.

Asensio's current deal is due to expire next June, though, and a recent report claimed that Carlo Ancelotti's side would be prepared to accept an offer of between €25m (£21.6m) and €30m (£25.8m) this summer.

Arsenal are thought to have lodged a bid for the attacker, with the Gunners contacting Real Madrid with a view to bringing him to North London in the current market.

Liverpool have also been heavily linked with the Spaniard, with Reds head coach Jurgen Klopp said to be a huge admirer of his talents.

However, according to the Liverpool Echo, the Merseyside giants are not considering making an attempt to bring him to Anfield during this summer's transfer window.

The report claims that Liverpool are not planning to make any further first-team signings this summer, with deals for Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsey being secured.

The Reds have also signed Mohamed Salah to a new long-term contract, but Sadio Mane has moved on in the current market, with the Senegal international joining Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, Takumi Minamino, Marko Grujic, Divock Origi, Ben Woodburn, Sheyi Ojo and Loris Karius have all left Liverpool this summer.

Asensio has scored 49 goals and registered 24 assists in 235 appearances for Real Madrid since arriving from Mallorca in 2014, winning three La Liga titles and three Champions League crowns.

"Renew or leave Real Madrid? I think there are three possibilities, there is also the option to stay and fulfil my contract year," Asensio told Marca when recently questioned on his future.

"My future does not have to depend on whether or not I will have a place in the next World Cup. Rumours are part of football, and more so at Real Madrid. High-level players are always associated with it. Many players come out every summer and it's something we have to live with."

Manchester United are also believed to be showing an interest in the Spaniard, with the Red Devils viewing him as a potential alternative to Ajax's Antony, who is thought to be valued by his Dutch side in the region of £80m.

Real Madrid are believed to be happy to keep hold of Asensio for another 12 months but are not currently planning to offer him a new contract.
