Bastian Schweinsteiger: 'Manchester United strikers must find clinical edge'

Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger claims that the club's strikers must be less wasteful in front of goal.

Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has suggested that the club's strikers have to be more clinical in front of goal.

Louis van Gaal's side spurned a number of chances on Saturday as they were held to a goalless draw by West Ham United at Old Trafford, which was their fifth stalemate in nine matches.

Schweinsteiger has warned that United's hopes of competing in the Premier League title race could end if they fail to make the most of goalscoring opportunities.

"In every game we create chances but haven't scored. When that is not the case it is not easy to win matches," he told The Guardian.

"We need a goal otherwise you cannot talk about winning a trophy because we should be winning at home to West Ham.

"It is a lot of things, First of all you have to create the chance with the last pass. Then the guy who was the opportunity they have to feel that they want to score a goal and are going to score a goal. It is a mix of everything."

United are currently fourth in the Premier League, three points behind leaders Leicester City.
