Massimiliano Allegri 'very close to agreeing Manchester United deal'

Former Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri is very close to becoming Manchester United's new head coach, according to a report.

Massimiliano Allegri is reportedly on the verge of agreeing a deal to become Manchester United's new manager.

United have made their worst start to a top-flight campaign since 1989-90, having picked up just nine points from their opening eight Premier League games of the season to sit 12th in the table.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's position as head coach of the club is currently being called into question amid suggestions that the owners are concerned by the team's poor form.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Allegri had told United that he was interested in becoming the English club's new head coach but would not wait more than a few weeks to be contacted.

According to Tuttosport, discussions between the two parties are currently underway, and Allegri is now 'very close' to being appointed in a deal worth £6.5m a year.

The report also claims that the former Juventus manager could attempt to bring both Emre Can and Mario Mandzukic to Old Trafford during the January transfer window.

Allegri, who left Juve at the end of the 2018-19 campaign, would allegedly want former United captain Patrice Evra to join him at Old Trafford should the deal go through.
