Manchester City are reportedly set to offer midfielder Rodri a new long-term contract.

The 25-year-old has developed into a first-team regular under Pep Guardiola since his arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2019, making 137 appearances across all competitions, including 32 so far this campaign.

According to the Daily Telegraph, City are keen to reward Rodri with a new contract – with his current deal expiring in June 2024 – as they view the Spain international as an important player for the club going forward.

Over the past 12 months, senior City players including Ederson, Joao Cancelo, John Stones, Ruben Dias and Kevin De Bruyne have all committed their futures to the club, and Rodri is believed to be one of the next in line who could follow suit.

A previous report has suggested that Ilkay Gundogan could also be offered a new contract, with his deal expiring in June 2023, while the future of 36-year-old club captain Fernandinho – who is out of contract this summer – remains uncertain.

City are reportedly interested in signing Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni should Fernandinho leave the Etihad Stadium this summer.
